The Armadillo is a unique nuisance animal. Measuring 25-48 inches in length and weighing in around 7-18 pounds, the Armadillo is greyish-brown, oval shaped with a tapering tail and hard exterior shell (carapace) with 7-11 distinctive bands going down the body. They have a pointed snout, small eyes and claws used for digging. Mostly feeding on insects, this animal is a nuisance due to its digging. It is common to have yard damage, flower beds and digging under sidewalks and concrete patios. Armadillos can carry the bacterium that causes leprosy in humans. The chance of this happening is extremely rare but important to take note if attempting to live trap this animal on your own. Easy ways to identify Armadillo damage is if you find holes in your yard, 3-5 inches wide and 1-3 inches deep or find plants that are uprooted.
