Wolf Spider

Wolf Spider

The Wolf Spider is easily identified by two black lines along their cephalothorax and can sometimes be rather large and intimidating. Unlike other spiders, this spider does not spin a web but rather nests in the ground, waiting for prey to come by that they pounce on. This spider will chase after prey for short distances and is often found inside your home, garage, sheds, in mulch beds, pine straw and under leaves. You may see this spider with its babies being carried on its back. The bite of a Wolf Spider can be rather painful but is not a serious health risk to humans.
